In 2001, the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) selected June 1 as World Milk Day, which celebrates the important contributions of the dairy sector to sustainability, economic development, livelihoods and nutrition. The Global Dairy Platform coordinated global celebrations on June 1, 2017. We would like to thank everyone who participated with an event and for sharing your love for milk and dairy on social media!

Besides raising their glasses, World Milk Day events included open houses at dairy farms, milk donations to schools and NGOs, photo contests, sports competitions, fairs, dance shows, parties, nutrition conferences, tastings, exhibitions, food carts, and milk bars. These wonderful activities were organized by dairy farmers, cooperatives, national dairy associations, schools, nutrition groups, dairy companies, and thousands of families and citizens.
